Advocating for a Cleaner and Healthier Ghana
Damak Sanitation Health Watch is a dedicated non-governmental organization led by a team of journalists committed to tackling sanitation challenges in Ghana. Through media advocacy, community engagement, and innovative programs, we strive to promote sustainable environmental health solutions.
Over the years, we have spearheaded impactful initiatives in the Ashanti Region, ranging from clean-up exercises and media awareness campaigns to sanitary material donations. Our work is driven by strong partnerships with stakeholders who share our vision of creating cleaner, healthier communities.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Damak Sanitation Health Watch provided essential sanitary materials to institutions in need. This included hand sanitizers, nose masks, and gloves, helping to curb the spread of infections. Our beneficiaries included:
✅ Kumasi Children’s Hospital
✅ Kumasi Children’s Home
✅ Kumasi Central Prisons
✅ Ashan Children’s Home (Kwabre South District)
✅ Nwineso No. 1 (Atwima Kwawoma District)
We believe that a cleaner environment leads to better public health. In collaboration with churches, market groups, and fitness clubs, we have successfully carried out several clean-up exercises across various districts, including:
✅ Tafo Government Hospital
✅ Suame Municipal Assembly
✅ Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly
In partnership with the International Direct Project (IDP) from Switzerland, we provided a mechanized water pump to a deprived community in the Ahafo-Ano South West District. This initiative has greatly improved access to clean water, enhancing sanitation and hygiene standards in the area.
To recognize and reward outstanding efforts in sanitation, we introduced the Damak-IDP Sanitation Awards in 2023 and 2024. This prestigious event honors individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to environmental health and cleanliness.
Raising public awareness is at the heart of our work. We produce and host a weekly one-hour sanitation program on Agyenkwa FM in Kumasi, educating the public on proper sanitation practices and the importance of a clean environment.
At Damak Sanitation Health Watch, we believe that everyone has a role to play in creating a cleaner and healthier Ghana. Whether through volunteering, partnerships, or advocacy, your support can help us drive lasting change.
